How to Deter a Robber: Entertaining Comedy with Earnest Characters

Whatever the reason, you sometimes want to escape your own reality, and films and books can help you in doing that. “How to Deter a Robber” is one such film which can elevate your mood instantly; plucking all the negative energies from your surroundings.

Maria Bissell has come up with an interesting PG-13 comic home invasion film that can make anyone laugh, no matter how low they are feeling.

The plot of the film goes something like this- Madison Williams (played wonderfully by Vanessa Marano) had led a pretty comfortable life, and the only thing she has felt deeply sad about up until now is the death of her pet bird. She has a boyfriend named Jimmy (Benjamin Papac) and one day he joins her for dinner with her family. However, the conversation which started out as a light-hearted fun talk turns into an argument which upsets Madison because all of them start to make fun of the things she has done in the past.

Later on, she and Jimmy have a conversation in the garage where she notices her neighbours’ lights being turned on. She finds it strange because she knows for a fact that neighbours are away for vacation. Suspecting a paranormal presence, and being bored out of her mind, she formulates a plan and marches towards the house taking Jimmy with her.

Madison takes a Ouija board and organizes a ritual; however, things don’t go as planned, and they pass out drunk instead of investigating the house. They woke up only to find that the house had been burgled. They inform the police who tell them that there have been other cases of robberies in the town and they are currently investigating it.

The couple are then sent to Andy’s (Madison’s uncle) house, and this starts an epic tale as the couple decides to catch the robber and solve the case once and for all.

Maria Bissell has done a wonderful job in this feature film and has filled the films with a lot of witty one-liners which are so funny that you will get through the film even if you find the plot weak and cheesy.

In short, the movie revolves around a couple of teenagers who are posing as amateur detectives, and they somehow end up getting more than they bargained for. Things go south when they end up investigating the wrong cabin.
