Xiaomi announced the launch of the Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G. Xiaomi will empower the Redmi Note 9 Pro variant with 5G. The expected release can be anytime in December 2020. Xiaomi has enhanced Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G from its 4G-capable predecessor. But, it is also essential to understand what’s more in this new smartphone.
Physical Structure
Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G weighs 215g. The dimension of the smartphone is 165.4 x 76.8 x 9 mm. It is a glass front (Gorilla Glass 5), glass back (Gorilla Glass 5) build. One of the most irritating issues is its IP-certification, i.e., IP53. It is nowhere going to stand in front of other smartphones who arrived in recent times and have IP68 ratings. IP53 means that the smartphone is partially dust-resistant. Also, Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G can withstand water spray up to an angle of 60 degrees. It is available in three color variants – gray, black, and red/mint. Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G has an IPS LCD screen display with a screen refresh rate of 120 Hz.
Processor & Platform
Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G has Qualcomm SM7225 Snapdragon 750G 5G processor. The processor is an 8nm octa-core processor with a new Kryo 570 performance CPU. Due to its high clock frequency, it offers better performance than the smartphones that have Snapdragon 768G and Snapdragon 765G. With Adreno 619 GPU assistance, it supports Qualcomm’s fifth generation of AI-engine and Snapdragon Elite Gaming features. Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G runs on Android 10 and MIUI 12 OS. MIUI 12 provides a more realistic and close-to-nature sense due to the themes and other features like notifications on time, weather, etc., due to MAML graphics, Folme animations, and MiRender rendering.
Memory
The Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G has three memory variants – 128GB 6GB RAM, 128GB 8GB RAM, 256GB and 8GB RAM. It supports the newly launched UFS 2.2 version – which is getting accolades for its WriteBooster features. Hence, the smartphone will carry a high write data transfer rate. But, there’s a twist in this UFS 2.2. Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G gives UFS 2.2 feature only in its 128 GB memory, 6B RAM variant.
Camera
The most awaited section to explore in a smartphone for some set of smartphone users is the camera. On the rear side of the Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G, there are four cameras (quad-camera facility) available. They are 108 MP (f/1.8), 8 MP (f/2.2), and two 2 MP (f/2.4). One 2 MP is a macro, and the other one is a depth camera. The 8 MP camera provides ultra-wide coverage for 118 degrees. The Xiaomi smartphone’s video-capturing capability is super-awesome.
Battery & Audio
Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G has Li-Po non-removable 4820 mAh battery. It can charge up to 100% in 58-minutes of time on 33W charging. There is a 3.5 mm headset jack port available on the smartphone. Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G provides a stereo speaker.
Connectivity
Xiaomi smartphone supports WiFi, GPS, Radio, Bluetooth, and NFC. The cool quotient of the Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G is with its Bluetooth 5.1 feature. Bluetooth 5.1 brings a new “direction-finding” capability that can pinpoint any nearby Bluetooth-turned on the device on the distance (in cm or m) parameter. So, it enhances the indoor positioning of the smartphone. The Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G has USB Type-C 2.0 port.
Conclusion
In a real sense, Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G has tried to uplift many of its predecessor features. It has shown immense capability with new additions. Its production has also presented many technical glitches or issues or things lacking in Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G. Due to its IPS LCD screen display, it has to keep a separate mounted fingerprint sensor. Also, the UFS 2.2 feature is not available in all its variants. Smartphone users should wait for its launch. However, there is no information on platforms where Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G will be available.
