Use Apple Watch to Unlock iPhone

And, now, with the introduction of the same feature, Apple has bought pretty much similar characteristicsto theiOS devices as well. On that note, let’s get started with ways to set this feature:

  1. Launch the Settings app on your iOS device.
  2. Then, go to “Face ID and Passcode” and further enter thepasscode.
  3. Now, scroll below to the newly added option “Unlock with Apple Watch.”
  4. Now, you need to enable the toggle appearing next to the Apple Watch that needs to be used to unlock the device.

You need to wait for a while to let this feature get enabled. Meanwhile, make sure your Apple Watch is unlocked while you are wearing it. Also, while you are using this feature, your Apple Watch must be password-protected so as to ensure that your iOS device doesn’t get unlocked by others while you aren’t wearing your Watch.

Lock iPhone with Apple Watch

After setting the feature successfully on your Apple Watch, try using the Face ID while you are wearing your mask. Your phone will get unlocked as long as your Apple Watch is unlocked and you are wearing it. However, if your device,by any means, gets unlocked by others, you always have the option to lock it using your Apple Watch.

Your Watch will display a notification on the screen whenever you use it to unlock your iOS device. The displayed notification will inform you about the unlocked state of your iOS device. The same notification will also display a button stating “Lock iPhone,” which, when clicked, will lock the device again, and you will have to input your device’s passcode further when you try to unlock your device the next time,using the Face ID.

So, these were the instructions to use Face ID on an iOS device while you are wearing a Mask. Being introduced by Apple, this is the most reliable method that always works compared to the other weird tricks available on the web. Please be noted that to use this feature; you need to update your device to iOS 14.5 and your Apple Watch to the latest watchOS 7.4 update. Be informed that both the updates are currently available in the developer beta stage; however, their stable version will probably be released in a month or so.
