All You Need to Know About Audeze Penrose

When it comes to wireless gaming headsets, Audeze Penrose has everything. The rich balanced sound quality that the users get is without a doubt one of the best users could find in any other headsets in the market. Some of its impressive features include microphone levels, USB-C charging, individual volume, and several wired connectivity options. It costs $299 and has all the features that users might be looking for. The support for Bluetooth 5.0 audio connection makes it one of the best headset options for gamers.

The audio of Audeze Penrose is crisp clear and its sounds punchy without ever being over-delivered. Users don’t have to increase the volume to hear the subtle details and despite not having noise cancellation its does an incredible job of isolating sound thanks to its thick ear pads and closed-back design. The headphone is compatible with PS5 and PS4 consoles. If someone wants to buy an Xbox version they can get Penrose X which has green trim.

But the good sound quality is not enough. When it comes to comfort Penrose fails miserably. It is tough to wear it for short gaming sessions. The long ones are just intolerable. What makes it even more uncomfortable is its weight. The headset weighs 320 grams and the poor design that squeezes ears makes it terrible for gaming, especially for long sessions. Although there are headsets that weigh just as much as Penrose most of them are designed better. The weight is distributed evenly so they don’t feel heavy for the user.

It would have easier to not stress on its design flaws if it was but that is not the case. Penrose is identical to Audeze Mobius which costs $399 and was released back in 2018. So, the design is not something new and Audeze should have done a better job this time but unfortunately, that has not been the case with Penrose. Moreover, Mobius had head-tracking and 3D sound processing, and even though Audeze is a newer model it still lacks those two features which could have helped it stand out.

Penrose’s built quality is exceptional what hurts the most is the lack of comfort while wearing it, especially after one feels its unevenly distributed weight. The buttons also don’t stand out which is again a failure to think deeply about the design. Penrose is one of the few headsets that lets users connect to their phones via Bluetooth while being connected to the console at the same time. The execution of the feature is exceptional and is much better than most headsets that have it.

When it comes to battery life, Penrose again disappoints. While some cheaper ones last about 30 hours or more per charge but Penrose barely lasts 10 hours which is just unacceptable. Considering the price, it should have lasted at least 25+ hours per charge. There is scope for a lot of improvement and future models will have to ensure that such huge mistakes are not repeated.

Audeze Penrose has some features that are so good that they justify its price but then we have other features like its uncomfortable design and poor battery backup that is just disappointing. People who don’t mind a shorter battery backup can still go for Penrose the sound quality is probably the best at its price range and some of its features are just exceptional.
