Voicemail is a program that enables you to exchange personal voice messages. It is a very convenient feature if you cannot take calls, say in a meeting, the person on the other end can drop a message directly to your voicemail.
Sometimes, voicemail can come up with issues, for example, it is notifying you to delete your voicemails because it’s full. Despite deleting a lot of voicemails, the notification still keeps flashing. This isn’t very pleasant at times and has a possible fix.
Below mentioned are the ways to fix the issue so that the notification stops blinking and annoying you.
Delete the voicemails if not yet deleted
The notification to delete voicemails also keeps appearing if the deleted voicemails section is full. The primary step to take when it notifies you to delete your voicemails is to delete the mails permanently. The steps to remove all the voicemails permanently are:
- Go to the ‘Phone’ app.
- Click on the ‘Voicemail’ option present at the bottom of the window.
- Click on the ‘Deleted Messages’ option and select ‘Clear All’ on the top-right corner of the screen.
- A pop-up menu will appear. Hit the ‘Clear All’ button to confirm.
Remove Blocked Voicemails
A person can still send you voice messages if you’ve blocked them from voicemails. Whenever you block anyone, the other person is directed to the voicemail by default. Thus, they can leave a message.
These voicemails don’t appear to you but are kept on your iPhone. The steps to remove the blocked voicemails are:
- Go to the ‘Phone’ app.
- Click on the ‘Voicemail’ option.
- Go to the ‘Blocked Messages’ section and delete the voicemails.
Remove Voicemails on Airplane Mode
Sometimes, irregular sync between your iPhone and the carrier can also keep your phone from deleting voicemails. Thus, you can remove the voicemails while keeping your phone on Airplane mode. All you need to do is enable it from the control center or the settings app of your phone, and start deleting.
Remove Voicemails From the Mobile Carrier
Voicemails are stored on your mobile carrier as a backup after deleting them from the ‘Phone’ app. You may receive a notification because of the same and thus, need to delete the emails from the carrier. The steps to remove these voicemails vary for each mobile carrier. The instructions to delete the voicemails from the four major carriers are mentioned below:
- Verizon- Dial *86 on your phone to delete the voicemails. Next, follow the on-screen instructions to empty the folder.
- AT&T- To access your voicemail, press and hold the 1 key on your keypad. Enter your password if asked. Next, remove the unwanted messages from your phone.
- T-Mobile- Make a call on your own contact number to access the voicemails. An alternate method is to long-press 1 key or dial 123 on your phone. Press the ‘*’ key when you hear the greeting message and enter the password. Next, start removing the voicemails.
- Sprint- Call your own contact number and wait until the call gets to the voicemail. Press the star key upon hearing the greeting message and enter the password. Next, delete your voicemails.
If you’ve tried all the methods mentioned above, there might be some other issue with your voicemail. In such a case, it is advised to contact your service provider and seek help. If you have the customer support contact number, try reaching them with the same. Else, you can also report an issue by logging in on their website.
