The Exorcist is labeled a must-watch movie for horror fans as it depicts traditional demon hunting with some disturbing series of events. This movie is based on the novel “The Exorcist,” published in 1971. The plot goes with a 12-year-old girl possessed by a demon and her mother’s efforts to save her. William Blatty faced a lot of difficulties producing this movie as major stars of that era were not interested in the project, along with disturbing events on sets like an injury to the star cast and the burning of the entire set.

The Autopsy of Jane Doe

The Autopsy of Jane Doe is a thriller movie with suspense in full swing. The plot goes on with an unidentified dead body’s autopsy. Starring Brian Cox and Emile Hirsch as Tommy and Austin, they decide to do the autopsy of the dead body to find the reason for her death. During which they discover some disturbing and shocking findings in Jane’s body. This movie is a fresh take on witch-hunting, presenting a different and unpredictable plot.

The Witch

Written and directed by Robert Eggers, The Witch is a paranormal horror movie that depicts witchcraft, black magic, and disturbing rituals in a different way. The plot starts with a farmer with his family, who was banished by the order of a court residing near a forest. The forest holds an unknown evil, and some unsettling events begin when the crop fails, their animals become malicious, and one of their children goes missing. The movie proceeds with twists and ends on an unpredictable note.

Gerald’s Game

Gerald’s Game is the most mind-bending psychological thriller ever made. It is based on a novel by Stephen King named “Gerald’s Game.” This is the story of a couple who are desperately trying to save their relationship. In an attempt to do so, they go to a remote house surrounded by forest. Trying to rekindle the romance, the wife gets handcuffed to the bed, and in the process, the husband dies with a heart attack. The stuck wife desperately tries to free herself while dealing with her horrific hallucinations. This movie is a must-watch suggestion for people who are bored with traditional plots of horror movies.

Insidious (2010)

Directed by James Wan, Insidious (2010) is the first in the Insidious franchise series. The movie’s plot runs around a family with a son facing demonic possession, but it is named a medical issue. The family encounters paranormal events in the house, and his mother is sure that it is more than a medical issue, and his son needs help. The movie depicts some jumpy scare-scenes with classic demon hunting.

The Babadook

The unsettling plot of this movie will give you nightmares. Directed by Jennifer Kent, the story starts with a widow trying to gulp down the emptiness in her life with a mischievous and stubborn child. The trouble starts when her son finds a book with disturbing visuals and scary rhymes. He becomes obsessed with the figure named Babadook, which supposedly haunts the house. He tries to fight the evil but ends up creating more trouble for his mom, who gets possessed by Babadook. The end of this movie is quite unsettling and satisfying at the same time.
