How to Completely Disable Bixby on a Samsung Galaxy Phone

With the launch of Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+, the Bixby assistant became a part of Samsung flagship devices. Indeed, Bixby can perform a lot of tasks like Google Assistant, Siri, but a huge number of users don’t want it or want to disable it from their device. Samsung removed the Bixby button in the new series of S20 but moved it into the power button. Putting Bixby in the Power button is not a good choice because a lot of users have gotten frustrated from it. So if you’re also struggling from the same issue, here’s how you can get rid of it.

How to Disable Bixby?

In Samsung Galaxy S20 and S21 lineup, Note10, and Note 20 have by default Bixby activated. Users just need to double-tap the power button to turn on the Bixby assistant. However, if you’re satisfied with this improvement, you can disable it by following steps:

Swipe down from the top.

  • Press down the Power button
  • Click the Side key settings.
  • Now set the Open app or Quick launch camera on the double press.
  • Change the press and hold the power button to Power off menu.

By following these, Bixby won’t show up when you accidentally press the power button twice or hold the power button.

How to Remove Bixby Home/Samsung Daily from Home Screen

In the new One UI, you won’t find Bixby on the most left side of the home screen. That home page tab now shows Samsung Daily and Samsung Free that shows things depending on your location. If you don’t want this feature on your device’s home screen, you can follow the same method to get rid of it. Follow the steps to get rid of it:

  • On your device’s home screen, hold down on your home screen until the menu appears.
  • Swipe right to see the left panel of the home screen.
  • Press the Disable Samsung Daily option.

How to Switch Between Samsung Free and Google Discover on Samsung Galaxy S21 Lineup

People who are using new Samsung Galaxy devices like S21 or above, they can access both Google Discover feed and Samsung Free. However, both of these services can’t be accessed at the same time, you can only choose one service at a time for the news feed. Here’s how you can switch between these two services:

  • Press and hold on your home screen.
  • Once the menu begins to appear, swipe right to see the left home screen panel.
  • Select between Samsung Free and Google Discover by pressing down the check box.

If you don’t want any of the services, you can uncheck the checked service.

Conclusion

As compared to Google Assistant, Bixby is nothing. Google Assistant can do a lot of unique things that Bixby can’t do. Google Assistant is able to do a lot of tasks because of its Google sources. However, if Samsung is still keeping Bixby on their flagship devices, then they might reveal something extraordinary for their users in future.
