Inception is a science fiction action film, released in 2010. The storyline was excellent; the direction was terrific and the cast was memorable. The film is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. And on that account, the director, Christopher Nolan has decided to re-release the movie Inception. Inception is coming to theaters soon. Although for some, the ending of the trailer is not appropriate and it should have been differently ended. If you have already watched the trailer, you might know what I am talking about. Let’s see how the trailer spoils the final shot.
The Original Movie
Inception is an American sci-fi film. It was directed by Christopher Nolan and produced by his wife, Emma Thomas. As soon as the movie was released, it was widely accepted by the audience, and it made around $829.9 million. However, the movie’s production cost was $160 million only. The plot of the film was very interesting. In the movie, the protagonist Cobb played by Leonardo DiCaprio is a professional thief who steals information by infiltrating into the subconscious mind or dream of the target. Cobb is offered to implant the ideas of another person into the subconscious of the target, and in return, the boss would erase his criminal history.
The concept of the film is fascinating. As soon as it was released, the audience accepted the idea open-heartedly. The movie became the fourth highest-grossing film in 2010. It also received critical praise for the direction, theme, music, visual effects, screenplay, and the fantastic cast. It even won four Academy Awards that year for Best Cinematography, Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing, and Best Visual Effects.
After completing the project of “Insomnia” in 2002, Nolan presented an 80 page written horror film based on lucid dreaming to Warner Bros.; but then he realized he is inexperienced for a project of such magnitude, he shelved the idea and worked on other projects, namely Batman Begins in 2006, The Prestige in 2008 and The Dark Knight in 2008.
Plot
The following could be ‘spoilers’ for some who have not yet watched the first film and intend to watch it in the future. And those who have already watched it can enjoy the article till the end. This movie introduced the two characters Cobb and Arthur, who are the “extractor.” They use some military technology to infiltrate the target’s subconscious mind and extract information through a shared dream world. Saito offered Cobb to infiltrate into the dream of Robert, son of Maurice Fischer and convinced him to dissolve his father’s company. In return, Satio will help Cobb to clear his criminal record, because of which Cobb is not able to return to his children. He is finally happy to come back and lead a happy, normal life with his family. He decides to spin the top, that he always carries with him to differentiate whether he is in a dream or reality. If the top stops, then it is real, and if it keeps spinning, he is in a dream. The final shot shows the top is spinning, but it never reveals whether it stops or not. And that’s how amazingly Nolan ended the movie and left his audience in great suspense.
Re-release Trailer
The new Inception trailer was released recently on account of the film’s 10th anniversary. As soon as the trailer came out, it created considerable hype. The trailer shows some scenes from the previous movie and also ends like the film ended, with the spinning top. The trailer says it is a movie for “a new generation,” although the shot from the previous film does not signify it. It is a great way to sell the film to those who have watched the film. But the audience who has no idea about the first movie could barely relate to the trailer. So, it would not probably appeal to the viewers who are not aware of the top’s concept.
The release date of the Inception re-release is 21st August 2020. Fans waiting for it to hit the theaters. So, let’s see what the re-release has in store for us.
