Be Prepared To Set Up and Customize Face ID on iPhone 12 for Extra Security

Our iPhone or other accessories demand extra security to keep away anyone trying to invade your privacy. The older iOS devices consisted of fingerprint security; however, a new biometric facial recognition was introduced on the newer iPhones.

Face ID is a scanner on all the latest iPhones that do not have a home button. Now that new models have been introduced in the series of Apple phones, the big question is if they’ll satisfy you in the security department?

iPhone 12 and the other three models also include the facial recognition feature that’ll enable you to unlock your phone by looking at it. Not only this, but it’ll enable you to authenticate other in-built applications like iTunes transactions, App Store, and Apple Pay with Face ID.

Do you need a permanent solution for the privacy and security of your iPhone 12? Here’s what you need to know.

How to Set Up Facial Recognition on iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max?

When you set up a new iPhone, it prompts you to set up a Face ID for authentication. However, if you skipped the step at the moment, you may set it up from the settings menu anytime you want.

The steps to set up a Face ID on iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max are:

  1. Launch the ‘Settings’ app on your iPhone 12.
  2. Locate the ‘Face ID & Passcode’ tab and click on the same.
  3. The next window will prompt you to enter the passcode of your phone. Enter the correct six-digit passcode.
  4. Click on the ‘Set Up Face ID’ option. If you want to set an alternative Face ID, select the ‘Set Up and Alternate Appearance’ option.
  5. Hit the ‘Get Started’ button.
  6. The next window requires you to scan your face by moving your face in a circular motion slowly.
  7. Click on the ‘Continue’ button once done.
  8. You’ll have to go through a second scan. Again, slowly move your head from left-to-right.
  9. Once completed, click on the ‘Done’ button.

After you’ve followed the instructions mentioned above, a Face ID will be set on your iPhone.

Disabling the ‘Require Attention’ feature

The purpose of setting up a Face ID for security reasons is that the phone will unlock only after you look at it. However, if you want to unlock your iPhone 12 without looking at it directly, you may turn off the ‘Require Attention’ feature. It is essential to mention that disabling the same will not keep your phone as secure as before, but if you feel the need to unlock your phone again and again when you’re using it, you can disable the feature.

Note: If you think that you can unlock the phone without even looking at it, you’re wrong. It is because disabling the feature still demands a limit to its field of view.

The steps to disable the ‘Require Attention’ feature on your iPhone 12 are:

  1. Launch the ‘Settings’ app on your iPhone 12.
  2. Click on the ‘Face ID & Passcode’ tab.
  3. Enter the passcode of your iPhone in the next window.
  4. Turn the slider off for the ‘Require Attention for Face ID’ option.
  5. A pop-up confirmation menu will open. Tap ‘Ok.’

Note: Turn the slider off if you want to enable the settings.

In any case, if you want to switch the Face ID to a new one and discard the previous, you can do the same ‘Face ID & Passcode’ menu by selecting the ‘Reset Face ID’ option.

As said before, security is an essential part of your smartphone, so that no one could take a peek at your data. Therefore, it is necessary to set up a facial recognition authentication for safety purposes.
