How to Fix if Windows 10 is Not Recognizing your Android Device

Sometimes you tend to transfer files from your Android device to your PC to have a back-up, or there could be any other reason. But, your device is troubling you while you’re trying to connect your device to your PC.
There are a lot of third-party software that can fix this problem in a few seconds, but if you’re someone who wouldn’t want to install any software and do it by other means, here’s a guide for you.
To transfer files from Android to PC or vice-versa, we depend entirely on a USB cable to perform the same for us. Sometimes, USB might not work, which could be problematic if you’re in a rush.
Below mentioned are the tricks or fix you can try, to be able to connect the Android device with your PC:
USB
Check if the Cable is Working or Not
Make sure if your cable is working or not. Any exposed wires or cuts on the cable can create a problem for your devices. You’re advised to replace your cable with a new one instead of this.
In case there is no such problem occurring to you, follow the next tip.
Make Sure That Your Phone is Not Disconnecting or Reconnecting Itself
Always look for disconnecting or reconnecting sound on your phone if your cable looks acceptable to you. The problem might be on your phone. Turn on the sound of the phone to check if it’s turning on and off the connection.
If your phone is stable and connected and still cannot transfer files, there might be some other problem.
Look if Both the Ends of the USB Cable are Connected to the Devices
Sometimes you do not notice the slightest of the things in front of you when in a hurry! Double-check if both the ends of the cable are correctly connected to both the devices, Android phone and your PC, respectively.
Make a Connection
Follow the following steps if none of the above tricks worked for you. The steps are:
  1. Go to ‘Settings’ on your Android device.
  2. Look for ‘Developer Options’ and tap the same.
  3. Next window will appear with a list of options, choose ‘USB Configuration.’
  4. Choose whichever options you want to work with from the next pop-up window.
Manual settings
In some Android devices, the ‘Developer options’ button is present by default, while in other devices, it’s not. Turn on the ‘Developer options’ manually, hop into your settings, and look for your build number. Now press it seven times and the settings will turn on.
Check USB Computer Settings
The steps to check your USB computer settings to connect an Android device to your PC are:
  1. Go to Settings on your Android device.
  2. Tap on the ‘Storage’ section.
  3. On the top right corner of the screen will appear three dots. Tap on the same and select ‘USB Computer Connection.’
  4. A pop-up window will appear with a list of options. Select ‘Media Device.’
  5. Try connecting an Android device to your PC.
Install USB Driver
Driver issues can also be a reason for disconnection in your devices. Follow the steps below to fix this:
  1. On your PC, click ‘Windows + X’ and a menu will appear. Tap on ‘Device Manager.’
  2. Tap on the name of your Android device from the list of devices appearing, right-click, and select ‘Update Driver Software.’
  3. It’ll ask you the way to search for the driver software. Select ‘Browse my Computer for driver software.’
  4. Browse for the drivers on your PC from the ‘Browse’ option.’
  5. Select ‘MTP USB Device’ and choose ‘Next’ to start installing.
Enable Debugging
Enabling debugging on your USB can help fix the issue. The steps for the same are:
  1. In the settings section, go to ‘Developer Options.’
  2. Press ‘OK’ if any warning message appears.
  3. Check USB Debugging when you enable the Developer options.
  4. Press OK again for confirmation to close.
Put on Airplane Mode
You can put your device on Airplane mode for a few seconds and then turn it off. This might help in fixing the issue.
Restart
Restarting your device is the most obvious fix for anything, only it works. Turn off your phone and then restart. This will help to refresh your device.
