How to Add a Trendline to a Chart

Anyone can observe the trend that comes from the data by putting a Trendline into that. Luckily, MS Excel does comprise this tool with it. It guesses not only the common order but also the complete direction of the given data. Go through this blog properly for knowing the method of including a Trendline in Office Excel.
TRENDLINE

Remember a trendline is basically a line in Excel which displays a common trend. This helps quickly understanding the data. It is worth noting that the trendline in Excel shall be included in different charts. For instance, bar charts as well as line charts.
Making a chart
  1. Firstly, put the data you wish to make a chart.
  2. Then, choose the data.
  3. After that, select the Insert option.
  4. Next, go through the section of ‘Recommended Charts’.
  5. Then, press on any of a Chart. This shall result in the previewing of the data.
Including a trendline
  1. As soon as you are done making the chart, choose that, and tap on the plus symbol that is located near to the chart of yours.
  2. Then, go through the list of given options.
  3. After that, choose ‘ Trendline’.
  4. Next, tap on the sideways arrow for viewing more options.
  5. After that, select the option according to your preference.
  6. It is worth noting the fact that Excel shows the Trendline option only the time you choose a chart that comprises more than a single data series by not choosing a data series.
Format a trendline
  1. One more time tap on the plus symbol.
  2. Then, select the Trendline option.
  3. After that, move downwards and choose ‘More options’.
  4. Whenever the Format section is presented before you, choose the trendline tab. It shall be located into the pull-down list.
  5. Note that by default, Excel includes a linear trendline. For making changes, you shall be able to do the given below:
  6. Exponential
  7. Linear
  8. Polynomial
  9. Power
  10. Put a value into the ‘Forward’ as well as ‘Backward’ area for projecting the given information in the upcoming time. Remember that formatting a trendline is a statistical method for calculation.
Include moving average line
For formatting the trendline into a moving an average line, go through the below-mentioned point carefully.
  1. Firstly, tap wherever you like in the given chart.
  2. Then, tap on Format option.
  3. After that, under the ‘Current Selection’ option, choose the trendline option which is present in the pull-down list.
  4. Then, tap on the ‘Format Selection’ tab.
  5. Next, from your Format ‘Trendline’ section, which is located under ‘Trendline Options’, choose Moving Average. You need to mention the points if required.
By the above-given method, you shall be able to include a trendline into an Excel chart which shall lead in making it more informative for its viewers.
