Apple Watch vs. Fitbit: Which Is Better?

Fitbit and Apple Watch are one of the best selling smartwatches these days. Both are amazing smartwatches and have their own uniqueness and advantages. Many users that are interested in buying smartwatches may find it hard to decide which one to buy. If you are one of the users who cannot determine if you should buy the Apple Watch or Fitbit, then you have come to the right place. We are going to tell you everything that you need to learn about these smartwatches in this article.

So what’s the wait? Let’s dive in.

Fitbit vs. Apple Watch: An Epic Battle of Smartwatches

In common, the Fitbit watches are mostly concerned about fitness tracking and activity tracking to keep a person fit physically. It has more features regarding tracking walks, exercises, and other physical activities. On the other hand, the Apple smartwatches are better understood as smart devices with fitness tracking capabilities.

As the name suggests, Fitbit is more targeted at physical fitness and improving one’s healthy routine. However, Fitbit also has functionalities other than fitness tracking. Fitbit watches are more affordable than Apple ones, which is why many people prefer them.

In general, both devices provide excellent fitness tracking capabilities. Apple watches have become even more advanced with innovative features such as heart monitor, exercise measuring, and all. Apple watches also provide some comfort features like notifications and messages of your iPhones, while you will not get the same in Fitbit watches.

The problem with the Apple smartwatches is that they don’t work alone without an iPhone, which is one of the biggest issues with these smartwatches. They are also very expensive in comparison to Fitbit and other popular smartwatches. Hopefully, Apple might develop its future Apple watches in such a way that they can also work alone without an iPhone.

One significant feature of Fitbit smartwatches is that they motivate its users to keep up with other Fitbit users. On the other hand, the Apple watches motivate its users to improve their physical fitness routine gently step by step. Both motivation strategies are pretty good and unique on their own. Apple watches have a feature to remind its users to stand up and take a walk if they sit for too long, an impressive bonus.

In short, they are both unique and impressive on their own. We would advise you to go for Fitbit’s high-end smartwatches instead of Apple’s Watches if you are an Android user.

How Well Does Apple Watch Detect your Health Conditions

An Apple Watch is widely used as a fitness tracker across the world. It is going advanced day by day with each upcoming generation. The Apple Watches of the latest generation have features to monitor some new health conditions. Let’s see what more it can do.

Don’t consider an Apple Watch as a medical device

You have to remember that an Apple Watch is only a smartwatch, not your medical doctor. Having an Apple Watch doesn’t mean you no longer need a doctor for your medical conditions. You should never depend on a digital device or the internet for your physical and mental health conditions. If you see a different reading on your watch, you should immediately consult your doctor. Moreover, this post will help you learn what an Apple Watch can tell you about your health.

High and low heart rates

An Apple Watch tells about your heart rate in the following ways:

  • The Apple Watch Series 1 or newer combines an optical sensor to measure heart rate.
  • The Apple Watch Series 4 or newer (not the first SE model) comes with an electrical heart sensor. This sensor only works with the ECG app.

An optical heart rate sensor is responsible for your high and low heart rates. The Apple Watch with an optical heart rate sensor notifies you when the heart rate goes more than 120 bpm for 10 minutes or goes below 40 bpm for 10 minutes.

You can use the electrical heart rate only with the ECG app. It measures heart rate quite accurately. If you have irregular heart rates, you can quickly generate an ECG using the app. With the app’s ECG, you can consult your doctor. Please note that a measure of average heart rate varies from person to person.

Abnormal heart rhythms

Apart from measuring heart rate, you can also use the Apple Watch to measure the heart’s rhythm. It also measures atrial fibrillation (AFib) in case of an irregular beat in the heart’s upper chambers. If you experience it, you should immediately consult your doctor as it can be severe for you. But remember that your smartwatch can also show you false data about your health. That means you can receive notifications about AFib even if you have no AFib. Most importantly, the heart attack condition isn’t monitored by the Apple Watch.

Inform about loud environments

Some Apple Watches inform you about the intensity of noise around you. The Noise app offers this facility. The Apple Watch SE and later supports the Noise app. The app notifies you when your background noise level goes more than 80dB (a certain level). In that way, it saves your hearing power.

Fall Detection

In daily life, one can fall anytime and anywhere, whether it be a home, a market, a road, or anything else. Mostly, older people are prone to slip or fall. Thanks, Apple, for developing smartwatches. An Apple Watch will let you know when an individual from your family with Apple Watch falls in an emergency. But here is something important to know. It is not necessary that your smartwatch will detect when someone falls or slips.

In conclusion, the Apple Watch Series 6 introduced a blood oxygenation sensor, a wellness feature, not a medical doctor. However, this feature can be changed in the future. Apple Watches may be advanced in the future that will detect some more health conditions.
