How to Find, Lock, or Erase a Lost Android Phone

How to Discover the Lost Phone via Google
Android phones have an option named Find My Device built-in. This feature will track the phone’s location automatically, so if the user misplaces their phone, they can track it through the laptop or friend’s phone to locate the last location. Try to call on your number, and you will get an idea that it is stolen or not. The option must be set up and enabled before the phone is lost.
How to Allow Find My Device on the Android
In the current Android device, a shortcut of Find my Device option has been inbuilt in the Settings app, but the users still have to download the app from the Play Store to set up the app.

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Click on Security and lock screen option.
  3. Click on Device administrators.
  4. Select Find My Device and a checkmark displays on the checkbox.
  5. Choose the back option on the top left.
  6. Press back option again on the top left to go back to the Settings menu section.
  7. Hit Location in the Settings menu.
  8. Click on the switch next to Location on top to turn it on.
  9. Select Mode.
  10. Choose High accuracy.
  11. Press back option on the top left.
  12. Hit the Google Location History option.
  13. Click on a switch below Location History to turn it on.
  14. Select the switch next to the device to turn it on.
How to Discover Phone via Google
The user can discover their phone by logging in to Google account from any PC or phone.
In case you need to discover a phone via Google, then you need to follow the offered steps:
  1. Open a web browser from  PC, phone, tablet.
  2. Go to android.com/find.
  3. Input the password and email address if required then check the mail. If the user has 2 step verification, then they have set up an account to complete the process.

Play a Sound
The users can use the option to make a ringing sound on the phone. This feature is helpful when the map shows that the phone is in earshot, and they can’t see it.
Secure the Device
Users can secure their devices so that no one can access the device. It is helpful when the phone is not secured before with passcode or fingerprint.
Erase the Phone
Users can delete the phone’s data if they wish. This option is for the situation when you know you won’t get your phone back.
